A little act of kindness can already go a long way. It is always better to give than to receive. A good steward of God is someone who exercises the art of giving rather than being selfish and keeping his blessings to himself. Many people are suffering from hunger and everyday is the right time to take care of one another.
If you are being blessed in life, feel free to bless others as well. It doesn't matter in what way you want to do it, be it through financial, moral, or material things, what matters is your willingness to give. Being able to donate to the poor is a good Christian act that you should embody in life. This is the perfect time for you to widen your table and help the needy and the homeless. It doesn't mean you should give everything you have. You just need to wholeheartedly share the graces you have received from God.
Corinthians 9:6-7 declares, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Whatever your heart desires to give, make sure it is out of willingness and not by force. God loves a cheerful giver because it means your soul is pure and you sincerely want to help the needy. Every time you donate to the poor, share your smile to them and make them feel your sincerity. Your help must not root from the thought of showing off or obligation. A good Christ's steward will not care about the quantity because he believes it's the thought that counts. Even if it is the very little you can give, as long as it comes from your heart, then you will be blessed by God in return.
Even if you are willing to donate a huge amount of money or too many material things to people, you don't need to announce and proclaim it to the world. A genuine giver would rather donate in silence and just let the Lord witness what he has done. Matthew 6:1-2 says, “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So, when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”
Whatever you have given to others, let their smile and gratitude convince you to keep helping other people even without public praises. God sees your intentions and He knows what your heart truly desires. Your kind heart to the unfortunate people will always prevail.
If you feel like life has been so good to you financially, do not hesitate to donate and provide for the needy. Shelter those who are homeless and feed the hungry. If you have too much of something, instead of throwing it away, donate it to the poor so they can gain something from your old things. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 declares, “Command to those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
It doesn't always have to be money whenever you think of donating. Sometimes, you can also donate your knowledge, kindness, and moral support to someone who needs it. Bless other people's life especially if you are also blessed by God. With the little blessing you have, you can already paint a smile on their faces and build your riches in heaven. Donate with a grateful heart and never question how much you are putting into other's pockets. What truly matters is a good soul and a pure heart that is influenced by God's righteousness and generosity.
