Sharing your blessings to other people is more than just an act of generosity. Sometimes you can help them last another day, buy their medicines, make their day better, or let them forget their problems for a while. When you donate, you are also giving smiles on their faces and allow them to see that in all problems and crises, God will always provide.
Be grateful if you are in the position of being someone who gives. That means you are fortunate enough not to experience the trials that poor and marginal people deal with from day to day. God has blessed you with a lot of graces, and He wants you to be empathetic towards other people.
Donating to people who need support is something that a Christian follower must possess. It is part of Christian living to be sensitive to the needs of others be it monetary, in kind, or moral support. God will bless you even more if He sees that the blessings that He has given to you is being apportioned to the deprived.
Whenever you donate something to someone, no matter how small or big it is, keep it between you and the receiver instead of announcing and showing it to the public. In that regard, you aren’t really sincerely helping the poor, but trying to gain honor out of it. Matthew 6:1-2 declares, “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So, when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”
Reflect on what is truly your purpose for helping the people. There is no sincerity in giving if you’re secretly rooting for praises coming from your fellow man. An act of genuine generosity is only caring for what the Lord sees, for He knows what you do in secret.
Christian believers who are wealthy in spiritual aspects are also rich in heaven. A kind soul knows how to share what they have to those who have nothing. Divide your blessings to the poor and your fortune in the kingdom of God will multiply. Money, material possessions, and fame are temporary pleasure on earth. What truly matters is your good deeds and the heart to serve the Lord.
As 1 Timothy 6:17-19 states, “Command to those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
Guard your soul not to feel greedy for money. DO not be misled in life and be tempted to do things that are morally corrupt and evil. Seek God’s wisdom no matter how high you soar in life, for He can always take back what was given to you if you abuse it. When life blesses you, lengthen the table that feeds the hungry, and be mindful of their needs. God gives abundance to people whom He knows will use it for good. Do not fail the Lord and make Him proud of His child.
Every time you donate to the less fortunate, don’t forget to show them your smile and happiness from giving. Always give with willingness to help, not just for the sake of guilt or obligation. A good Christian will not think about the amount or quality of what he has to give, but would rather willingly share what he thinks would be beneficial to others. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 declares, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Extend your hands with a grateful heart and the Lord will pour His blessings on you.
Donations are not just meant for those who need it. Even the poorest can also help the rich by donating their wisdom and contentment. Life is a give-and-take process. If you are given more, share them to others. If you wish to help the needy, do it with cheerfulness and enthusiasm. In everything you do, always think about how it would please God, and not just the people.
